JEE Main 2021 Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The JEE Main exam consists of papers - Paper 1 for admission in B.Tech/B.E courses, and Paper 2 for B.Arch and B.Plan courses. The exam is conducted online and is computer-based. The duration of Paper 1 is 3 hours (4 hours for PwD candidates) and consists of two sections for each subject - MCQs (Section A) and numerical (Section B). Paper 2A for B.Arch contains 82 questions for a total of 400 marks, while Paper 2B for B.Plan contains 105 MCQs for a total of 400 marks.
In Paper 1, 20 questions are asked from each subject in Section A, and all are compulsory. Candidates can attempt only 75 out of the total 90 questions in Paper 1, and the remaining 15 optional questions have negative markings.
The language options for JEE Main question paper are English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The marking scheme for JEE Main is +4 for correct answer and -1 for incorrect answer in MCQs. There is no negative marking in numerical questions.
